A residential care facility for the elderly, often called board and care or assisted living, is a real house in a residential neighborhood where a small number of seniors live together and receive housing, home-cooked meals, supervision, and non-medical help with daily activities like bathing, grooming, and medication reminders. At Olive Tree, that home is nurse-owned and family-run.

Scale. Large communities may care for a hundred or more residents; Olive Tree cares for a small household. That means higher caregiver attention per resident, one consistent team your family actually knows, home-cooked meals instead of cafeteria dining, and a daily rhythm that adapts to each resident rather than a fixed institutional schedule.

Olive Tree is owned and operated by Jessica Smith, a registered nurse with over eight years of healthcare experience, together with her husband Hank. Our lead caregiver, Monica, brings more than 30 years of senior care experience. You can read all of their stories on our Our Story page.

Room, three home-cooked meals daily plus snacks, housekeeping and laundry, activities and enrichment, medication reminders, bathing and grooming support, and 24-hour awake staff. Rates vary with room selection and level of care, so the best next step is a quick phone call. We’ll give you a clear, straightforward answer for your situation.

We offer private rooms with a choice of an attached private bath, an attached shared bath, or a detached shared bath. Every room can be personalized with your loved one’s own furnishings and décor to make it feel like home from day one.

Yes. Olive Tree is not a medical facility and does not provide medical services. Residents keep their own physicians and outside providers, and we coordinate with them, including home health and hospice care partners who can visit residents here at home.

When families need it, we partner with hospice providers so residents can remain in the comfort of their home, cared for by familiar faces. We coordinate closely with the hospice team and keep families informed every step of the way.

We open in October 2026, and yes, tours are available now, Monday–Friday & Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Touring early is a great idea: it gives your family time to ask questions, compare options, and reserve a preferred room before opening.

This is your loved one’s home, and family is always welcome. We simply ask that visits respect mealtimes and quiet evening hours. For tours by prospective families, we host visits Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM.

We are located at 1544 Avenida Andante in the Rancho Del Oro neighborhood of Oceanside, California, serving families across North County San Diego, including Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos, and Encinitas.
